Funding Socials is an inspiring in-person event series designed for charity and social enterprise leaders looking for fresh ideas and connections to help boost income generation.

For this Funding Social in Dundee, we will be hosted in The Circle. You will have the chance to hear directly from both Funders and a local organisation, Shaper Caper working to raise funds to support the work they do in the local area.

The event is designed to help cross the divide and connect both funders and new peers, who can help you on your journey.

During the event we will break into smaller groups giving you the chance to meet and ask questions of:

Lauren Arthur, Engagement Manager for the Scotland Team at The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Shelley McCarthy, Charity Chief Officer, Funding Officer, and Richard McIntosh, Funding Development Manager, Funding Officer,  NHS Tayside Charitable Foundation, Alastair Davis, CEO at Social Investment Scotland and Kieran Daly, Head of Market Building at Social Investment Scotland.

Jane Bruce will facilitate the session with the aim of creating an informal and accessible event.

Alastair, Shelley, Richard, Lauren and Kieran will explain the support and funds they offer charities and social enterprises and be ready to answer any questions you have.

You will be given a warm welcome with teas/coffees on arrival and the session will close with a light lunch, where you will have the chance to mix with funders and peers and make some new connections.

Shelley McCarthy, Charity Chief Officer, Funding Officer, NHS Tayside Charitable Foundation

New to NHS Tayside, Shelley came into post as the new Charity Chief Officer in 2023, following a career shaping innovative and dynamic processes supporting social enterprise, employability and external funding. With so many opportunities ahead, she looks forward to developing and maximising the foundation’s impact in the months ahead.

Richard McIntosh, Funding Development Manager, Funding Officer, NHS Tayside Charitable Foundation

Before joining the charity, Richard spent 15 years working as a Senior Public Health Specialist with NHS Tayside. He is passionate about tackling inequality through partnerships and harnessing the power of communities to make a difference to the health, care and wellbeing of the Tayside population.

Our guest organisation is Shaper Caper who will talk about the amazing work they do in the local area and the support they have received. Shaper Caper would love to extend an invite to anyone planning on attending the session to attend their exhibition, Queer and Now at the V&A after the event.
