Annie Howie, Investment Manager at SIS
With a strong financial background, Annie has experience working in both the public and private sectors – including roles in investment banking, not-for-profit business development and, more recently, as a founder and lead of her own Scottish-based start-up social enterprise.
At SIS, Annie primarily works with third-sector organisations looking for mission-aligned investment. Helping organisations realise their long-term development aspirations, she provides in-depth advice and support on how to get there.

Guest speaker: Peter Faccenda, Trustee of the Flow Country Partnership SCIO
Peter’s day job is leading the Focus North team delivering transformational initiatives in the north of mainland Scotland which are paving the way for a sustainable future through economic growth in the low carbon economy. Complementary to this role, Peter is one of the founding Trustees of the Flow Country Partnership SCIO, established to maximise environmental improvement, economic growth, and community benefit from the restoration of the Flow Country Peatlands - a vital natural ecosystem containing a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Peter is a Strathclyde University Metallurgy graduate whose 25-year commercial business career includes numerous roles in metals businesses, including director and managing director. Has managed Bar and Rod Mills in a Steelworks, a Steel Bridge Fabrication factory, an Iron Foundry producing roll-to-roll steel and a hot pressings company making wear parts for the agricultural sector. He used the expertise gained from this to help manufacturing businesses improve at the Manufacturing Advisory Service in Yorkshire. He helped manufacturers improve their skills and businesses to enter the nuclear industry supply chain with NSAN. For the last eight years has worked for Highlands and Islands Enterprise supporting business growth and regional development, and for the last five, he has worked with partners in Focus North to support economic growth in Caithness and North Sutherland.
In this session, we will talk about the Flow Country and how a SIS bridging loan provided them with the quick temporary cash flow they needed.
