Circular Economy 360 Video Series: Nikos Chrysogelos, Welcommon Hostel

Throughout the Circular Economy 360 series we’ve been keen to show that taking steps towards Net Zero is not the reserve of environmental organisations. The Welcommon Hostel is run by the social cooperative, Anemos Ananeosis (Wind of Renewal) where in addition to offering hostel facilities it is also a centre for sustainable tourism, a place for social gathering, for innovation and for art. Welcommon unites green innovation and social integration where locals, migrants and refugees can come together.

As the key lead at the Welcommon Hostel, Nikos Chrysogelos talks to us about how environmental outcomes were incorporated into this seven-floor facility building in the centre of Athens. In this conversation with Nikos, we also touch on cost – taking time to look at energy bills and the potential savings that may be sought as a result of investment in alternative technology or simply switching to LED bulbs.
