Celebrating excellence in Social Enterprise

31 Oct 2023

The 26th October was a busy day for Award ceremonies and we were fortunate to attend two.

We were delighted to win the "Growth and Recovery Award", for the second year running, at the recent 2023 Scottish Financial Services Awards, sponsored by EY. These Awards highlight the contributions of firms and individuals to Scotland's world-class finance industry over the past year.

Through our strategic partnership with the Scottish Government and Zero Waste Scotland, we have facilitated the allocation of funds to support a Just Transition towards a net-zero carbon economy, underscoring our commitment to economic recovery and sustainability.

Alastair Davis, CEO at Social Investment Scotland commented: “This award is due recognition for the Social Investment Scotland and SIS Ventures teams and boards, and our many valued partners, working tirelessly to support Scottish businesses in challenging times. Despite these challenges, it was good to take a moment to pause, reflect and see these efforts publicly recognised.”

On the same evening, Scotland's annual Social Enterprise Awards celebrated the champions of the social enterprise sector at an awards reception hosted at the Scottish Parliament. The prestigious event recognised the outstanding contributions made by social entrepreneurs from across the country, showcasing their commitment to the Wellbeing Economy.

This year, we sponsored one of this year's new awards, "Building Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, & Justice Award," to recognise the critical role that social justice plays in the social enterprise movement.

The winner of the inaugural Building Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, & Justice Award was the Resilience Learning Partnership. This exceptional organisation operates as an education and training provider with a dual purpose, supporting the health, social care, education, housing, and criminal justice sectors in Trauma Informed Practice.

“The awards highlight the remarkable flexibility, capability, and proactive role played by social enterprises in building strong communities, promoting social inclusion, and making a positive impact on the environment and well-being.”
